A common theme in making money these days is finding a position where you can work from home. The potential income you could make in a work-at-home position is typically determined from the amount of time you invest in your work. Not only are you able to work with maximum efficiency from your home, you can dedicate as much or as little time as you would like to your work.

I’m here to tell you that Network Marketing is a great way to build financial security. It’s the easy

way to become your own boss, but still be part of a team of people with like interests.

There are several types of Network Marketing businesses, and I’ll talk about some examples.

First...there is the standard type Network Marketing opportunity where you are required to buy products every month to stay in the pay plan, as you recruit others to join your team, and do the same. You normally have two business centers (legs to your business) to place the person you sponsor. You generally earn a bonus when you sign up a new member, called fast start bonus by many companies. You earn volume points for every member you get to join and products you sell, and points for what the people you sponsor do. You are paid a percentage (normally 10%) of the volume in the lesser leg of your business. Example: if you have 10,000 volume points in your right leg and 5000 in your left leg, you would earn $500 that month, and the difference (5000 in the example) would be carried into the next month.

There are less favorable compensation plans. Ones where your upline benefits from the carry over, not you, so always check the compensation plan before joining an MLM.

You will always need to recruit new people, not only to increase your income, but a large percentage of people who will join your team will give up within their first year for various reasons.

Second type of Network Marketing opportunity is the one designed around saving you money on items you normally or likely buy. You get discounts on your purchases from Stores that the company has arranged membership discounts. In addition you receive a commission for everyone you get to join. That is the Network Marketing part of this business.

There are various compensation plans of this type of Network Marketing business. Some also give you a rebate on your volume of purchase, so it’s good to look at several. I’m a member of Green Street, and a friend of mine is with Team National.

Third type of Network Marketing opportunity is called the 2 x 2 matrix (or a 4 x 4). This is the simplest form of Network Marketing, since you only need to recruit 2 or 4 people, and help them recruit 2 or 4 each to get into the payment cycle. As long as everyone down the line (new members) does the same your income keeps growing.

Normally there is a one time cost to join, anywhere from $7 to $20. If you don’t also have a product to sell, this isn’t the type of home business to make you a million dollars a year.
